Universal Hall
Concert and Events Venue
A large-scale multi-purpose arena and concert venue designed for Skopje's urban core. The building features a striking curved copper facade that wraps around the main auditorium volume, creating an iconic presence in the city. The hall accommodates over 5,000 seats in a tiered configuration with excellent sightlines, a flexible arena floor for diverse events, exhibition spaces, a public terrace with café, and gathering zones beneath a dramatic sweeping roof structure.
Design Concept
The design wraps the auditorium in a continuous curved copper skin that catches and reflects light, transforming the building's appearance from day to night. The copper cladding is perforated to allow glimpses of activity within, while the transparent glass volumes at the base create an open, accessible ground floor that connects the building to the surrounding public space. The sweeping ceiling interior features concentric timber rings with integrated lighting, creating an immersive acoustic and visual experience.
