A modern faculty building for the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FINKI) at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. Located at the intersection of Bul. Aleksandar Makedonski and the campus, the design features a warm timber-louver facade that provides solar shading while creating a distinctive identity. The building integrates with the existing university campus through carefully planned landscaping and public spaces at ground level.
Design Concept
The building's identity is defined by its timber-louver facade system, which creates a rhythmic interplay of solid and void across the elevation. The louvers provide passive solar control while allowing filtered natural light into the interior spaces. At ground level, the building opens up with generous glazing, creating transparency and visual connection between the campus and the street. The massing is organized to frame outdoor courtyards and gathering spaces for students.
